Refuge is the enchanting tale of a young elephant forced to flee the circus. She and her cat companion make their way from the Big Top in Russia to the elephant’s homeland of India. Their epic journey takes them through strange and exotic lands that are filled with foreign people and culture, which is at times frightening to the animals.  Dependent on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter, the animals discover that although people, clothes, language, and architecture change from place to place, one thing is the same the world over– friendship can be found everywhere.
